Senator Dave Sires is a businessman from Cedar Falls. He and his wife own and operate Cedar Village, a manufactured housing community, and a self-storage facility. The manufactured housing business also includes new and used manufactured home sales. 

Senator Sires was born at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls in 1960. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Holmes Junior High, and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1979. He attended UNI in the early 1980s studying economics. After graduation from high school, he purchased an excavator and had his own excavating business which included building terraces, ponds and tiling. While operating the excavation business, Senator Sires always worked alongside his father in the manufactured housing business. Senator Sires and his wife bought out his parents in 1991 and have been operating the community ever since. In 2003, he built Added Self Storage. 

He has been a Boy Scout, bow hunter, motorcycle racer, stock car racer, certified soccer referee for his daughter’s soccer teams, and parachute airplane pilot. He just finished serving four years as the Councilman At-Large in Cedar Falls, the largest city in District 38. Senator Sires has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 42 years. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
